Congratulations to LISD April Student of the Month Abigail Diaz of Nixon High School. Diaz is a 9th grade student at Nixon High School and the Vidal M. Trevino School of Communications.
At school, her favorite class is Spanish where she gets to learn something new every day. Abigail is a proud member of the Golden Spurs and the track and field team.
During her free time, Abigail enjoys volunteering at her church, San Martin De Porres.
She also has a passion for dancing. At VMT, Abigail is able to hone her craft in contemporary dancing. Diaz is also a student at the Laredo School of Contemporary Dance where she gets to enjoy tap, hip hop, jazz and pom.
Abigail’s main goal is to attend TAMIU and get her degree in the medical field. She hopes to pursue a career as a Radiologist.
She attended Tarver Elementary School and Lamar Middle School Abigail is the daughter of Jorge and Rebecca Diaz.


LISD High School and Middle School Fine Arts students were recognized and honored with Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Medals for their outstanding achievement in Attendance, Citizenship, and Excellence during the district’s ACE Awards Ceremony at the LISD PAC.

Online registration is NOW OPEN! All students in pre-kinder through 12th grade who would like to attend any school in Laredo Independent School District for the 2024-2025 school year can begin the registration process by visiting the district’s website at www.laredoisd.org.
The registration process is available in both English and Spanish. For any assistance, please call (956) 273-1278 where trained staff will be available by phone to assist any parent who needs extra support with the registration process.


Laredo Independent School District recognized the top JROTC students during the JROTC Honorable Cadet Ceremony hosted by Nixon High School. The Honorable Cadets are Martin High School’s Jose Gonzalez and Roberto Ibarra, Cigarroa High School’s Valeria Hernandez and Jacqueline Tapia, and Nixon High School’s Amaris Izaguirre and Briana Morales. The students were named LISD’s Honorable Cadets for their qualities and leadership skills as cadets who demonstrate outstanding capabilities as active members of their community through service, self-discipline, responsibility, and respect. The recognition was conducted by LISD’s ROTC Program and the LISD College, Career and Military Readiness Department.

The LISD Federal Programs Department will host its 3rd Annual Parent Meeting Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Martin High School from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This opportunity will provide parents with high impact instructional strategies and accountability updates that will benefit our students.
Community agencies from Laredo Regional Food Bank and Catholic Charities of Laredo will be on hand to discuss the different programs available, along with pre qualifications. *See flyer for more information.*



Trevino Magnet School and Martin High School junior Jesus Martinez has been accepted to the prestigious and world-renown Interlochen Center for the Arts Residency Program for his senior year of high school. Jesus was also selected as a member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Band. He received a first chair in Tuba at the Area finals earning him a spot in the 2024 TMEA All-State Band Concert.





Congratulations to the Nixon Mustangs on earning their Bi-District Championship. Great job boys, Coach Solis and staff!!! The Nixon Boys basketball team will play Edinburg Vela in the Area Playoffs.. LISD ‘s Office of Communications hosted the 4th Annual LISD Scholars Golf Tournament on Saturday, February 10, at the Casa Blanc Golf Course. Close to 100 golfers enjoyed a fun-filled day of golf that included breakfast and lunch, door prizes, a cool goodie bag and a warm feeling from supporting LISD’s graduates on their way to college. Thanks to our sponsors and golfers LISD was able to raise money for scholarships for students from Martin High School, Nixon High School, Cigarroa High School, Garcia Early College High School, and Valdez High School.
